ANNOUNCES $20,000 PRIZE PURSE FOR
BEAR LAKE BRAWL TRIATHLON

The Professional Triathletes Organisation today announced that it will provide a $20,000 professional prize purse for the Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon on September 19, 2020 at Bear Lake in St. Charles, Idaho.

The Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon is held at Bear Lake Hot Springs on the Idaho side of Bear Lake. Bear Lake is often called the Caribbean of the Rockies due to its incredibly blue water set in high in the mountains. Athletes get to enjoy the stunning natural scenary while racing in the rarefied high-altitude course.

The Bear Lake Brawl will have long-distance, half-distance, Olympic distance and sprint distance events, and the Professional field will be challenging the middle-distance course. Charles Adamo, Executive Chairman of PTO commented, “With severe travel restrictions continuing to cause chaos, our PTO Professionals have united around the world to help support local and regional races and our triathlon community. Independent race directors are the life blood of our sport, and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to support them in these difficult times. It is a tribute to the hard work of race director Joe Coles and his Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon team that they are able to host an event with four different distances for athletes of all abilities. We grateful to be a part of it.”

Joe Coles, Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon race director stated, “It is a joy to be able to hold our event in this climate when so many races have been cancelled. Our team has worked tirelessly to provide athletes with the opportunity to race and it will be great to see the professionals join their age grouper colleagues and unite for a fantastic race. We are thankful for the PTO Professionals and the support of the PTO to help add a professional field at Bear Lake. I am sure the pros will enjoy the Brawl.”

Skye Moench, PTO Board Member and World No. 10, commented, “Once again PTO Professionals are leading the way in uniting to support out great triathlon community. It has been an honour to work with fellow PTO member Nick Chase and race director Joe Coles to provide a racing opportunity for pros in the United States. Thanks to the PTO, we can create our own opportunities right now, and we are so grateful to be a part the Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon. While these are small steps, each one is an important and lasting one as PTO Professionals stand alongside all those who love our sport.”
