New Zealand’s triathlon superstar Hayden Wilde took his talents away from multi-discipline sport last weekend by taking the tape at the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles race in Belgium.
Wilde, who had stormed to a debut T100 victory in Singapore earlier this month, set a time of 47:32 to claim victory ahead of Belgian duo of Amaury Paquet (48:18) and Thomas De Bock (49:08).
Described as ‘Belgium’s biggest running festival’, the Antwerp 10 Miles is in its 39th year, and Wilde competed on the same day as his great short-course rival Alex Yee claimed a 14th-place finish at the London Marathon.
Continued success for ‘The Falcon’
There is no doubt the New Zealander is having an exceptional 2025 so far, the first year of a new Olympic cycle. That long gap to LA 2028 allows the 27-year-old – and the short-course cohort he competes regularly with – to dip their toes into other disciplines.

The likes of Wilde, Yee, Cassandra Beaugrand and Beth Potter have all taken on different challenges to start the 2025 season, but are all set to return to the triathlon fold in the near future.
Wilde has been exceptional over the last six months winning four of his six triathlon starts – World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Torremolinos, Laguna Phuket Triathlon, WTCS Abu Dhabi and T100 Singapore. The only ‘blemishes’ were a runner-up finish at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and a fifth-place performance at the T1 Indoor World Cup in Lievin.
