Redefining Triathlon For Every Athlete

Great Britain’s Max Stapley was full of praise for his fellow T100 professional triathletes following his debut performance on the World Tour in Singapore last weekend.

The 26-year-old was somewhat thrown in at the deep end as he was added in mid-March as a Wildcard for the series opener in Southeast Asia in a stellar field which included world champion Marten Van Riel, Olympic silver medallist Hayden Wilde and US ‘Big Unit’ Sam Long.

In the torturous heat of Singapore, Stapley put in the second fastest swim split behind fellow short-course star Vincent Luis, before dropping down the field on the bike. A moderate run performance brought the T100 rookie home in 13th place – earning seven Tour points. He finished the race over 14 minutes behind race winner Wilde.

Stapley on incredible levels of T100

After a few days of reflection, Max expressed his gratitude on Instagram for being selected as a wildcard for the event, and praised the abilities of his fellow T100 competitors.

“A few days removed from my first @t100triathlon event in Singapore and I’ve had some time to reflect on key learnings from the race.

“The level of the guys out there was truly mind blowing, the intensity from the off was incredible and I’m grateful to have been able to compete.

What next for Max?

“Personally, I need some massive work on my aerodynamics in order to climb the ladder, something I’ll be putting in place over the coming months. There is literally no room for error anymore. I hope to be able to line up again very soon and improve on where I was on Sunday.”

Stapley must now wait for another T100 call, with the next event scheduled for San Francisco on Saturday May 31 – hosted at the famous Escape From Alcatraz triathlon.
