World Triathlon has confirmed the postponements of two 2025 World Triathlon Cup events following a scheduling conflict.

The 2025 World Triathlon Cup in Vina del Mar, Chile and World Triathlon Cup in Brasilia, Brazil have both been pushed back from April to the end of the year.

The only two World Cup events in South America, the two will still take place in consecutive weeks as originally planned.

‘Scheduling conflict’ behind postponement

In a statement, World Triathlon confirmed the decision was made by both national federations due to a scheduling conflict with the Youth Pan American Games and the Chilean race.

“The Chile Triathlon Federation has announced the postponement of the 2025 World Triathlon Cup in Vina del Mar, Chile, originally scheduled for April 12-13, 2025,” World Triathlon said.

“The Brazil Triathlon Federation has also decided to postpone the 2025 World Triathlon Cup in Brasilia, originally scheduled for April 19-20, 2025.

“Both events will now take place at the end of the 2025 season, on consecutive weekends. Final confirmation of the dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

“In the case of Vina del Mar, the event had to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict with a qualification event for the Youth PanAm Games in Asuncion, Paraguay. In the case of Brasilia, the Organising Committee has decided to move the event also to the end of the season to allow both events to happen consecutively, making it more sustainable for athletes and teams, as per the original schedule.”

New dates “ASAP”

World Triathlon went on to confirm that they were working to confirm new dates with both national federations.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause to athletes, coaches, and fans who have been preparing for the events,” the statement read.

“Both Federations and LOCs are committed to working closely with World Triathlon to finalize the new dates as quickly as possible and ensure a successful competition.

“Further updates on the event will follow as soon as possible, and please stay tuned to our official channels.”

The World Triathlon Cup series kicks off next weekend in Napier, New Zealand, while the World Triathlon Championship Series starts this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
