IRONMAN VIRTUAL RACING SERIES LOOKS AHEAD TO EIGHT WEEKS OF RACING WITH THE RELEASE OF JULY AND AUGUST RACE SCHEDULE

IRONMAN VR Challenger Division returns offering a structured and competitive virtual environment with flexibility

Two four-week IRONMAN VR Championship Series competitions slated for July and August

IRONMAN Virtual Racing / IRONMAN VR

IRONMAN today announced its future schedule for the IRONMAN® Virtual Racing™ (VR™) Series, that will feature eight weeks of racing spanning from July 10-12 to August 28-30. It was also announced that the IRONMAN VR Challenger Division will be reintroduced allowing athletes to compete in a structured and competitive virtual environment with a bit more flexibility of competition standards than the IRONMAN VR Championship Series.

In addition to the return of the IRONMAN VR Challenger Division, the IRONMAN VR Championship Series is set for two four-week highly-regulated competitions (IRONMAN VR14 – IRONMAN VR17 and IRONMAN VR18 – IRONMAN VR21) that will again allocate IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship qualifying slots across age groups for top performers. The IRONMAN VR Classic Division will remain unchanged and open to the entire global athlete community who wish to focus on their personal performance goals using preferred equipment.

Following this week’s recovery period, racing will resume on July 10-12. The Classic and Challenger divisions will follow the same race formats each week, with sprint distances included while the IRONMAN VR Championship Series will only include 5150™ Olympic distance and IRONMAN 70.3 half distance race simulations.

As in the previous competition, athletes participating in the IRONMAN VR Championship Series must complete the run segments outdoors, while the bike segment must be completed on the prescribed weekly course utilising the Official Virtual Training partner ROUVY’s augmented reality in Race Mode (not Training Mode). Additionally, while the competition weekend consists of a 54-hour period, athletes must complete all three segments of the contest within 12 hours of starting their race, performing the disciplines in the proper order (short run, bike, long run). For additional Information and a full set of rules and regulations are available here.

Bringing the IRONMAN community together virtually, the IRONMAN® Virtual Club™ platform continues to grow and has now reached nearly 110,000 members across 172 nations and all U.S. States with tens of thousands completing IRONMAN Virtual Club Challenges since its recent launch. In addition, through the new Race Honorably campaign, IRONMAN’s goal is to provide an exceptional virtual racing experience with credible results that requires athletes to do their part by entering accurate data.
