The new multi-year partnership begins this month and will see all athletes from the British Triathlon Performance Programme, as well as members of British Triathlon benefit from Pelotan’s expertise in high-performance sun protection.

Pelotan will work with British Triathlon to provide education, strategies and a range of products for training and competition throughout 2020 and 2021.

Designed specifically for athletes, Pelotan is a ‘once-a-day’, water and sweat resistant sun protection brand that improves performance, maximises comfort and allows athletes around the world to avoid the danger of sunburn.

The company’s flagship product is an alcohol-based spray which is clear, quickly absorbed, lightweight and breathable, and has been tested as lasting up to 8 hours at SPF 30.

Tom Austen, Managing Director of Pelotan, said: “Part of the joy of triathlon, whether training or competing, is to really push yourself to the limit in nature; however, it is important to recognise the impact of unprotected sun exposure on performance, recovery and long-term health.

“Pelotan was designed specifically with outdoor athletes in mind and very few sports push the boundaries of sun protection as much as triathlon, with the unique swim-bike-run format. For the past 18 months we have quietly worked with some of the biggest names in triathlon and we are incredibly excited to be building on this by partnering with British Triathlon.

“As well as working at the elite level and helping to prepare the team for Tokyo 2021, we have a shared commitment to raise awareness of sun protection with the wider triathlon community and hope to use our expertise to benefit the sport as a whole.”

Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, said: “We are delighted to partner with Pelotan as an Official Supplier, welcoming the knowledge, expertise and guidance on sun protection that they will bring to the triathlon community.

“The dangers of sunburn are well known, and this partnership will bring a great benefit to British Triathlon performance athletes as we seek to be the best prepared team for Tokyo, as well as support our Age-Group Team and members to stay safe when swimming, cycling and running out in the sun.”
